Francisca Vieira, CEO and founder of Natural Cotton Color, participated in the panel “ESG and Business Model – Natural Cotton Color”
Francisca Vieira, CEO and founder of Natural Cotton Color, participated in the panel “ESG and Business Model – Natural Cotton Color”, where she shared the journey of the Paraíba-based company that develops fashion with organic and naturally coloured cotton.
She emphasised the importance of sustainability and social responsibility in the textile sector, highlighting the collaboration with rural family farming settlements in Paraíba. In these communities, small-scale farmers cultivate agroecological coloured cotton without the use of chemicals, preserving biodiversity and ensuring income for local families.
Innovation in Sustainable Fabric Development
Furthermore, Francisca highlighted Natural Cotton Color’s investment in research and development of new cotton fabrics, expanding the possibilities for fashion beyond traditional knits. The brand develops woven fabrics, such as jacquard with two natural tones of cotton, sustainable denim and sophisticated knits that combine organic cotton with fibres such as silk and linen. These innovations offer sustainable alternatives for designers and stylists seeking ecological materials (which require no dyeing) in their creations.
Another central point of the presentation was the valorisation of local craftsmanship in the design of the pieces. Francisca highlighted how the integration of traditional artisanal techniques into contemporary fashion adds cultural value and differentiation to products, connecting tradition and innovation. This production model strengthens the identity of Brazilian fashion and meets the growing demand for transparency and social and environmental responsibility in the sector. Regarding her participation in Códigos Futuro 2024, Francisca Vieira stated:
“It was an honour to be part of an event that brings together so many inspiring entrepreneurs to discuss the future of fashion from a sustainability perspective, reinforcing the importance of innovation combined with social impact.”
